If you have stepped outside the mainstream to honor your child's unique way of being in the world — if you've fought the system, questioned the experts, and blazed your own trail even when everyone around you thought you were wrong — this project was made with you in mind.
11 Stories From Parents Who Have Taken Alternative Paths in Their Children's Lives and Educations to Honor Their Neurodiversity and Unique Gifts is more than an anthology. It's a living record of what it looks like when a parent chooses their child over the system. The struggle, the criticism, the turning points, the breakthroughs — all of it.
Each story will feature a moment of reckoning. The point where you looked at what the world was asking of your child and said: not like this. There has to be a better way.
Stories centered on neurodivergence are especially welcome — including Autism, PDA, ADHD, and beyond. If your child moves through the world differently, and you've found a way to honor that rather than fix it, I want to hear from you.
You don't need to be a writer. You just need a story worth telling.

Every parent who reads this anthology and thinks that's us — that's one more family who knows they are not alone. One more child whose parent feels seen and validated enough to keep going. One more household that starts to question whether the mainstream path is actually the only path.
That's how change happens. Not through policy. Through stories.
The families who need this book are out there right now — exhausted, questioning, wondering if they're doing the right thing by their kids. They need to know that other parents have walked this road before them and found a way through. They need to know that honoring a child's neurodiversity, their unique gifts, their different way of moving through the world — is not just possible, but powerful.
Your story could be the one that changes everything for another family.
That's the mission. And it starts with you saying yes.
This anthology is the launchpad of UNBOUND Publishing Co. — an indie publishing house built from the ground up to be inclusive, neurodiverse-friendly, and unapologetically alternative.
We believe that the stories most missing from bookshelves are the ones lived by people like you. And we believe that healing and storytelling are not separate things — that when we write our truth, we release it. When we share it, we give someone else permission to do the same.
One book at a time, we are building something new.
By saying yes to this anthology, you are getting in on the ground floor. You are one of the founding voices of a publishing house that was created to make space for the stories that the mainstream has always overlooked.
That's not a small thing. That's a movement.

The system is not going to fix itself. But every family that chooses differently — that steps off the prescribed path and says there has to be a better way — chips away at what no longer serves our kids.
This book is a call to the parents who are ready to stop waiting for the system to catch up and start showing the world what's possible when we trust our children, honor their minds, and refuse to force them into a mold they were never meant to fit.
Your story is an act of resistance. And it is an act of love.
The families who come after you need to see that this path exists. That it's been walked before. That it's worth it.
This is how we pave the way — one honest, courageous story at a time.

For too long, the only stories being celebrated online and in print have been the ones that fit neatly inside the system. The career-path families. The honor roll kids. The ones who followed the prescribed route and called it success.
But that's not the whole story. And for our kids — the neurodivergent ones, the curious ones, the ones who were never going to fit that mold — it was never even a fair one.
Let's be honest about what standardized tests and rigid curriculums actually are: tools of compliance. They were never designed for your child's highest good. They were designed to maintain a system that needs children to fall in line.
We are not raising children who fall in line.
We are raising humans who know their own minds, trust their own curiosity, and understand that there is more than one way to learn, to grow, and to thrive in this world.
This anthology is part of that movement.
Every story we share is proof that another way exists — and an invitation for the next family to find the courage to choose it.
We are not just burning down the old path.
We are building something worth walking toward.

Yes. When the anthology is published, each author will receive royalties based on sales. I want to be upfront with you: royalties typically take time to come in — usually anywhere from 12 to 24 months after publication.
But UNBOUND Publishing Co. will always be fully transparent. You'll receive sales reports every six months so you know exactly how the book is doing.
The heart of this project is visibility and awareness — getting these stories out into the world where they can create real change. But any royalties that come in will always be distributed to authors. That's a promise.
